Iran-Iraq Earthquake

On Monday 13th November New York Times has published information about earthquake in Iran and Iraq. According to official declaration, there are thousands of injured people and even more than 400 killed.

The epicenter of this earthquake was near Ezgeleh in Iran. His magnitude was probably 7,3 (the United States Geological Survey). Seismologists in the country said it was the biggest quake to hit the western part of Iran, so in sad, but exact numbers: 407 people were killed and nearly 6,000 people in Iran were injured, according to officials and news agencies.

The worst situation was probably in Pol-e Zahab, a city in the western Iranian province of Kermanshah. From 30,000 populations, 236 have not survived. There is a message from one of the people who survived:

My friend was screaming, saying, ‘I lost my home,’ ” one resident wrote on Twitter.

That was only Iran, but also Iraq was hit by the disaster. On the Iraqi side of the border eight people were killed and at least 535 were hurt.

Pol-e Zahab

Very interesting is that the rescuers have used rescue dogs for search survivors, although dogs are by religious leaders of the region considered as unclean. Evidently, the religion is not always everything...

In my opinion, there doesn´t go only about the victims, although it is terrible, what has happened to them. But this disaster may have enormous political consequences, because the majority of hit region is inhabited by Kurds a large ethnic minority in Iran. But when they have lost their homes, what will they do? The government actually doesn´t support them very much and you know, Kurds in the part of Turkey want to have autonomy, so it is possible that they will join the Kurds in Turkey and change the war with ISIS and political situation of their nation.

I´m sorry, for not much photos, but they were not very nice, so if you are interested in this topic, you may watch the photos and read full article here.
