Hello everybody! As you know, I usually write about
some historic facts or about some interesting places for visit. However, in our
life are also other things, which are more important than having a fun. To be beneficial, now I´m going to write about blood donation.
So, in today´s post you can read about system and condition of blood donation
in the Czech Republic. Maybe, it will help you in the future with deciding…
- age: 18 - 65
- minimal weight: 50 kg
- you don´t suffer from serious allergy
- you didn´t go through organ transplantation
- you were not seriously ill in the past (there is very long list of diseases, so for closer information click here)
- you don´t suffer from some genetical conditioned diseases (the same)
- you are not addicted on drugs (or other narcotics)
- you are not HIV-positive
- you didn´t visit France or England in 1980-1996 for more than a half-year (because of Jacobs-Creutzfeld disease)
These were long-term conditions, but there are
also present conditions. Maybe, you expect some of them as self-evident, however you may be even surprised.
- You are not ill now
- In the last half-year, you didn´t have contact with any serious infectious disease
- You weren´t on surgery in the last half-year
- You weren´t on acupuncture in the last half-year (or you didn´t get tattoo and piercing)
- You didn´t use antibiotics in the last month
- You didn´t have attach tick in the last month
- You don´t have menstruation now and it´s minimally a half-year since your last childbirth (only women)
- A dentist didn´t pluck your tooth in the last week

Now, I´m going to give you some advances from the Red
Cross of the Czech Republic. They write on their website that before blood
donation you should drink a lot of non-alcoholic drinks and eat low-fat food.
How can you become a donor?
You come to transfusion station

Grant informed agreement
Pass basic screening
Screening by a doctor
A snack
Actual taking of blood
A rest
Planned blood donation (for future)

…and why are donors so needed?
Blood is in medicine
irreplaceable, because for now, our science is not able to produce it
artificially. However, it is necessary for medical treatment. There are exact
examples of some cases, when is blood used for saving people´s life:
treatment after weighty injuries
in ranks of surgeries (lungs, vascular, transplantation, orthopaedic)
treatment of poisoning
long-term treatment for people with artificial kidney
- long-term treatment for people who suffer from some malignant disease of bloodBut we use blood also for pharmacy production. Medications made from blood are used by people, who suffer from:
- blood coagulation disorder
- immunity disorder
